Have you really thought about what you are going to do when you sell your business and retire? I am not referring to the first 3 months where the novelty of not going to work every day has yet to wear off. The chance to swing a club, do a bit of travel or drop a line over the side I am sure holds a lot of appeal. But after that what will you do with your time?
You have probably been so busy in your business you haven’t really thought much about this but believe me you will want to. Perhaps you could devote some of your time and skills to a favourite charity or community organisation, embark on some further study or take up a new hobby that has always appealed but you have never had the time to get around to it.
Another option is to stay on in your business in a part-time advisory, mentoring or governance role. There Are also some interesting part-time options in starting a new business on Amazon, joining an MLM company or even working a couple of days a week in a bar or your local hardware store as a way to get out and about meeting people.
It’s over to you but in our experience, it’s good to have a plan.
